I have 22 years’ experience of teaching and 12 years of developing and delivering staff development for teachers in workshops, City Learning Centres and schools. I am a member of the Membership Services Committee of the Association for Learning Technology and a Lead Assessor of the Certified Membership of ALT scheme. I am a member of JISC's Learning and Teaching Practice Experts Group and an Accredited Trainer for JISC Techdis. I have a particular interest in the design of learning spaces and in using IT for Inclusion – for learning difficulties and to engage young people not in Employment, Education or Training (NEETs). The DOT scheme is of particular interest because excluded youngsters often have IT skills that are useful to other (often older) members of the community. So using them to mentor others has the added benefit of giving them the chance to feel useful and gives them skills and experience that can help towards employment.
