About me
Dr. Marcus M. Dapp is on the executive team of the Open Knowledge Foundation – the leading NGO advancing Open Data in Europe [www.okfn.org] – responsible for strategy and policy. Prior to that, he was IT strategist with the City of Munich. The e-participation project “MOGDy (Munich Open Government Day)” [www.muenchen.de/mogdy] that he initiated and led is considered a pioneering project in Germany and won awards in Germany and at European level.
Thematically, Dr. Dapp is concentrating on the open design of digital value creation processes across different domains and sectors: from open source to open innovation, open data to open government, open access to free culture. His understanding of this spectrum is regularly challenged and pushed forward in interaction with students in his lecture “Digital Sustainability” at ETH Zurich [www.vvz.ethz.ch] where he did his PhD research on software patenting and open source innovation. Dr. Dapp is called in by administrations and businesses as independent domain expert and speaks regularly at national and international events.
