There are a lot of Public Administrations & Companies that don't jump into Socialmedia just because they don't feel confident with the means.
Just as there are style guides for some of the major newspapers, it would be interesting to create a UE guide that includes guidelines and recommendations for the creation and management of socialmedia accounts in the different networks. Maybe sectorialized...

I agree and not :-) I'm currently working in a SME and the only way to involve people in social media is creating a personal interest on social media. Professional interest comes later upon my experience. Thus, guidelines should be not just informative (e.g. how to create an account in Twitter), they should also highlight how my company would be more known thanks to e.g. Twitter or how to keep in touch with costumers. This would be really useful.

Good point Cristina - that should be part of the advice and education to to SMEs. And like Macarena said the purpose for both personal interest AND business motivation should be included.

We have the very best experience when we guide a team to create the social media guideline WITHIN the team and not FOR the team. Ownership is higher and acceptance much better.

If you go to the doccuments menu (top right) there's a downloadable pdf with the old version of the guide. Current version is on its way! If you have further problems to get it, let me know and i'll try to send it to you by email.
