A big thanks to all of you who participated in the workshops yesterday and to those who worked from their home base.

#da12social was trending on Twitter yesterday and we all created some serious awareness for what the EU Commission is doing and how we all can make a difference.

Obviously we had opponents, people who disagreed with content or style but in the end we came farther than most of us including myself imagined when we started.

We were able to provide a very rich assessment, which enabled us to craft an early strategy model that can help thousands of businesses or innovative startups to grow by leveraging social media and as a result create new jobs. This would not be possible if we didn't leverage all aspects of social media that made it possible to work with a large group like you.

In a meeting on Wednesday we concluded that we are going to provide a complete summary in approximately 10 days and arrange for a conference call where everybody can attend.

Big thank you to all of you
I guess we all demonstrated we can make a difference and like I posted in the very beginning: It makes so much more sense to work WITH the public sector (democracy 2.0) than OCCUPY and don't achieve anything (the old "we versus them" model). Kudus to all of you.

Axel - thanks a lot for pushing the topic forward with the Digital Agenda Assembly at the European Commission.

However, I would suggest not calling people - who don't agree with the content or style - "opponents". It is better to listen carefully to the critical points, because the diverse team brings together great minds with the same goal. Otherwise we loose a good contributions in the future.

Dirk - thanks for the feedback. I guess I should have said objective not content. While it sounds noble to listen to everybody and everything - you also still want to get results. More often that not "different opinion" are founded in seeking attention or the urge to be different. There are times you gather insights and opinion and times you need to work and execute.

I guess finding the right balance between focusing on objectives and execution and random discussion is very difficult.

But hey - also here - different people may decide to take different routes. And so did we.
